Schuster's Tree, Stump and Shrub Removal

• Termites love wood that is on top of and inside the ground.
  

• A stump must be removed if you want to plant, landscape, install or replace a fence, or perform construction in the same area.

• The stump continues to grow (determined by sucker-growth) and so do the roots, which may be pushing up cement areas, house foundations, fences, etc.

• A stump may be removed to allow drainage or because it is obstructing a waterway.

• You simply may not like seeing the stump there.

• Stumps are normally cut fairly close to the ground. However, sometimes large tree stumps are left very tall due to the difficulty of cutting low.
  

• Stump grinding (stump cutting) is the preferred method of stump removal. Stump-grinding machines shave the stump continuously, again and again, until the depth and area required are met. There are many different sizes of stump-removal equipment that are used to accomplish this.

• Stumps are also removed with tractors by digging large holes and pushing or pulling them out. However, in most cases, a root can break surrounding hardscapes or utilities while being lifted.
• Stumps can be dug out by hand with picks, axes and shovels. Sometimes this is the only way to remove a stump without causing damage to the surrounding area.

Once the stump has been ground, the hole will be filled with the mulch (shavings/chips) from the stump. A lawnscape service in some cases is preferred to grade out the entire area depending on how large of a stump has been ground.
